Terms & conditions
These terms are the agreement between you and Stow. They apply when you use the app or this website, so it is worth the five minutes.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using Stow, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app. Together with our privacy policy, they are the whole agreement between us.
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old to use Stow, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for them.
3. Your account
- Give us an email address that is genuinely yours, and keep it current — it is how we reach you and how you recover access.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly at bookstow7@gmail.com if you think someone else has got into it.
- One person, one account. Do not share an account or let someone else use yours.
4. Your library stays yours
The shelves you build, the ratings you give and the progress you log belong to you. We claim no ownership over them. We store and display that content for the sole purpose of running the service for you, and we do not publish it, sell it, or show it to other users.
You can delete any of it at any time, and delete all of it by deleting your account from Profile → Delete account in the app.
5. Fair use
While using Stow, please do not:
- Break the law, or use the app to help anyone else do so.
- Try to access another person’s account, or any part of our systems you have not been given access to.
- Probe, scan, overload or disrupt the service, or work around its rate limits.
- Scrape the app or its API, or run automated requests against it at scale.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or resell any part of the service.
- Upload anything unlawful, abusive or infringing, including in feedback you send us.
6. Book information
Book titles, authors, covers, page counts and other catalogue details come from Open Library, an open catalogue run by the Internet Archive. That information is theirs and its contributors’, not ours. We pass it through as we receive it, so we cannot promise it is complete or correct, and it may change or disappear when their catalogue does. Cover artwork remains the property of its respective publishers and rights holders.
Stow, its name, its logo and the design of the app are ours, and these terms give you no licence to use them.
7. The service will change
We are actively developing Stow. Features may be added, changed or removed, and the service may be unavailable during maintenance or because something outside our control — including Open Library — is unavailable. We will try to give notice of significant changes, but we cannot promise it in every case.
Stow is a personal reading record, not a backup service. Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose.
8. Ending it
You can stop using Stow at any time and delete your account from within the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to by law — and where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first.
9. No warranties
Stow is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that book data will be accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stow and the people behind it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost goodwill, arising out of your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or NPR 1,000.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal. Any dispute arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kathmandu, Nepal. Before going that far, please write to us — most things are settled faster over email.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Stow after a change means you accept the revised terms.
